PGT Door Installation in Miami Beach: What to Know First
PGT door installation in Miami Beach runs $1,800 to $6,400 for most entry and French door replacements, depending on the series, the opening condition, and whether the old frame comes out clean or fights you on the way. TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent PGT service provider, not a factory installer, which means we can quote multiple PGT series side by side and install exactly what the opening requires. Most single-door PGT jobs are done in one day, with the full frame set, sealed, and warranted before our truck leaves the driveway. Call (386) 406-9359 for a free estimate.
This page is for you if you own a PGT door in Miami Beach, or you’re considering one, and you want to know what actually goes into a proper installation. Not the brochure version. The one where salt air, rain, and a shifting concrete slab have a say in how long the door will hold.
How PGT Products Fail - and How We Fix Them
We’ve been setting doors in Miami Beach long enough to know what PGT products do well and where they give out. Here’s what we see most, series by series.
- PGT WinGuard entry doors - roller misalignment and sagging. The WinGuard line is built heavy for impact resistance, and that weight eventually works against the hinges and rollers. What looks like a warped slab is often just a roller assembly that’s lost its adjustment. We reset the hinges or replace the rollers with the correct OEM-spec parts and the door swings true again. Skipping this and forcing the door is what cracks the frame corner welds.
- PGT ClassicVue French doors - threshold seal collapse. In Miami Beach, the afternoon rain finds a worn threshold seal fast. ClassicVue doors use a compression seal that breaks down after years of UV exposure and foot traffic. Water doesn’t usually come through the glass; it comes under the sill. We replace the threshold and regasket both leaves, then test with a hose before cleanup.
- PGT 5500 Series sliding doors - track corrosion. The 5500 Series has a solid extruded track, but Miami Beach salt air settles into the track bed and pits the finish if it’s never cleaned out. The door still works but it grinds, and eventually the rollers chew themselves up. We pull the panel, wire-brush and reseal the track, and install new roller assemblies. Half the time that’s all the door needed.
- PGT Estate Series pivot doors - slab bind at the strike side. Pivot doors look clean, but they rely on the floor pivot and top pin being perfectly plumb. A concrete slab that’s moved even a quarter inch over twenty years will bind the strike side. We don’t shave the door. We reset the pivot assembly and re-hang the slab so the margin is even around the entire opening. Shaving a PGT door voids the warranty and looks wrong.
- PGT StormDefense doors - sweep and astragal wear. StormDefense gets specified for the wind rating, but the weatherstripping is what people live with daily. We see original sweeps that are flat from use, letting hot air in and letting the A/C bill climb. A new sweep, a realigned astragal, and the door closes like it should have from the start.
Dale Kessler, our founder, grew up in the Normandy Isles section of Miami Beach, so he’s seen what two hurricane seasons of salt air does to a badly set frame. It’s why we measure every opening twice and never assume the rough opening is square just because the drywall looks straight.
Our PGT Door Installation Process
We treat every PGT door job the same way, whether it’s a repair or a full replacement. No shortcuts, no surprises.
- 1
Measure the opening, not the old door. The old door may have been forced in or shimmed badly. We measure width, height, and diagonal to find what’s out of true. If it’s not right in the opening, it’s not right.
- 2
Diagnose first. We identify whether the existing PGT door is worth repairing or should be replaced. When replacement is the call, we quote PGT series side by side on paper so you see the actual differences, not a sales pitch.
- 3
Set the frame with proper flashing. In Miami Beach, the flashing detail matters more than any other single step. We flash the head, jambs, and sill to shed water away from the opening, not into the wall cavity.
- 4
Hang the slab and adjust by hand. No air shims, no forcing. We set hinge or roller tension until the door moves with one hand and the margin is even all the way around.
- 5
Test margin, seal, and drain. We hose-test the exterior, check the weep holes, and run the door through ten full cycles. If the pane is not true, the job is not done.
- 6
Register the warranty in writing. Under The Keystone Standard, both manufacturer warranty layers are registered in writing with durations stated before we leave the driveway. You get a copy. We keep a copy. No relying on someone remembering.
Every PGT installation is covered by the Done Right Promise. If something isn’t right, we make it right. No paperwork fights, no arguing.
What PGT Door Installation Costs in Miami Beach
| PGT Door Scenario | Typical Cost Range in Miami Beach |
|---|---|
| PGT WinGuard entry door (single, full frame replacement) | $1,900 - $3,800 |
| PGT ClassicVue French door pair | $2,600 - $5,200 |
| PGT 5500 Series sliding door | $2,200 - $4,600 |
| PGT StormDefense door | $1,800 - $3,600 |
| PGT Estate Series pivot door | $3,200 - $6,400 |
What moves the price is the condition of the existing opening, the hardware package, and whether the frame needs full replacement or can accept a new slab. Older Miami Beach homes often have steel lintels or block construction that adds time, not just material. We write line-item quotes with fixed pricing, and we don’t add change orders unless you change something first.

Why Miami Beach Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for PGT Work
We’ve been told more than once that we’re the last call a homeowner should have to make. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed. They measure the opening twice. They quote manufacturer lines side by side on paper. And they register both warranty layers before they leave the driveway.
TruePane is an authorized installer for more than a dozen manufacturer lines, so if PGT isn’t the right fit for what your home needs, we can also quote, and CGI without sending you to a different contractor. Mostly, though, we’re known for standing behind the work. A live person answers our phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Not a voicemail tree, not a callback form. Call (386) 406-9359 and a person picks up.
We plan to be in Miami Beach in thirty years, same as we’ve been part of this community for over forty-two. We hire local. We train apprentices into journeymen. We act like a company that expects to see you again at the county fair.
FAQs
Not if the installation is done correctly and the warranty is registered. As an independent PGT service provider, we register both manufacturer warranty layers in writing before we leave the job, with durations stated. Most PGT door warranties have specific installation requirements. We follow them to the letter. Call (386) 406-9359 if you want us to look at what your current setup has registered.
In most cases, yes. PGT’s WinGuard and ClassicVue lines are still in production, and we can order direct from authorized distribution channels. For discontinued finish packages or glass tints, we’ll tell you what won’t match before we order anything. A square deal means you see it on paper first.
A single entry door is typically one day. A French door pair or an Estate Series pivot door can run into a second day, depending on what we find when the old frame comes out. We’ll tell you the schedule when we give you the quote, and we’ll be there when we say.
We use OEM-spec parts whenever they’re available. If an OEM part is discontinued or backordered, we use quality aftermarket parts from manufacturers we know and have tested. We’ll tell you which one is going in and why before the work starts.
No, not unless you change the scope. We write fixed line-item quotes, and the Done Right Promise covers the workmanship. If we find something unexpected when we open the wall, we stop and show you what we found before any new work is approved. No surprise line items on the bill.
