CWS Impact Windows & Doors in Miami Beach: What to Know First

TruePane Windows & Doors is an independent CWS service provider in Miami Beach, and most CWS impact window or door repairs leave our shop the same week we quote them. A typical service call runs $185 to $425 depending on what failed, and we’ll give you a written line-item price before any work begins. If you own a CWS product and something is binding, fogged, or not latching the way it should, call (386) 406-9359 and a live person will answer.

This page is written for homeowners in Miami Beach who bought CWS impact windows or doors and now need them serviced, adjusted, or replaced. We see CWS products in older waterfront condos along Collins Avenue, mid-century homes in Normandy Isles, and newer builds in Sunset Harbour. The salt air here does specific things to CWS hardware, and we’ve learned what to look for before you spend money on parts you don’t need.

How CWS Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Roller failure on CWS 750 Series sliding doors. The 750 Series uses a nylon-wheel roller assembly that the salt air off the Intracoastal breaks down faster than most owners expect. You’ll notice the door takes two hands to move, then starts scoring the bottom track. We replace the rollers with a sealed stainless-bearing set, clean and realign the track, and the door moves with one finger again. Total job usually runs under $300.
  • Hinge sag on CWS Estate outswing French doors. The Estate line is built heavy, which is good in a storm and hard on hinges over time. When the top corner of the door starts dragging on the sill, the problem isn’t usually the door itself, it’s a hinge that’s lost tension and pulled slightly out of the jamb. We re-shim the hinge leaf, reset the screws into solid wood or install longer stainless anchors, and the door closes square again. This is a job where the fix is small but the labor matters.
  • Interlock binding on CWS impact casement windows. On casement windows that face the ocean, we regularly see the interlock mechanism collect enough salt and sand to keep the crank from fully seating. The window won’t seal tight against the frame, and you lose both the airtight fit and the impact rating. We remove the interlock, clean it in a mild solvent, re-lubricate with a dry silicone, and adjust the crank sweep. Most of these are done in one visit.
  • Glass seal failure on CWS laminated impact panes. This one is not brand specific, but CWS laminated glass shows the symptom differently. Instead of a single fogged patch, you’ll see a milky haze that appears at the corners and creeps inward, because the inner PVB interlayer holds moisture in a pattern. No repair brings the pane back once the seal is gone. We measure the opening, match the original CWS glass spec, and install a new insulated laminated unit that carries the same Miami-Dade NOA requirements as the original.
  • Weep hole blockage on CWS horizontal slider windows. Every CWS slider we see on Beach property has weep holes along the bottom track, and at least half of them are plugged with the fine sand and salt scale that blows off the dune line. Water backs up into the track, then starts seeping under the sill and into drywall. We clear the weeps with a nylon pick, flush the track, and sometimes open the drain channel a few thousandths to keep it from happening again in six months.

Our CWS Impact Windows & Doors Process

  1. 1
The call. A live person answers, day or night. We ask what the window or door is doing, what model you think you have, and when it started. We don’t route you through a menu.
  2. 2
The first visit. A uniformed, background-checked tech shows up with the truck stocked for CWS work. We measure every opening twice before we touch anything, because out-of-square jamb openings are the root of most repeat failures.
  3. 3
Diagnosis on paper. We’ll write out exactly what failed, why it failed, and what the options are. If parts are needed, we’ll quote the OEM part and a quality aftermarket alternative side by side so you can see the trade-off in writing. Anything that touches the impact rating, like glass or interlock hardware, we recommend against aftermarket.
  4. 4
The repair. We do the work the same day in most cases. No surprise line items on the bill, no second appointment left hanging.
  5. 5
The test. Before we leave, we cycle the window or door at least ten times, check the drainage, and verify the lock engages cleanly.
  6. 6
The paperwork. You get a written invoice stating exactly what was done and what’s covered. If anything we touched fails within 90 days, we come back and make it right. No argument, no fine print.

If it’s not right in the opening, it’s not right. That’s the standard on every CWS job we take.

What CWS Impact Windows & Doors Costs in Miami Beach

Service Typical Cost
Service call and diagnostic $85 - $125, waived if you approve the repair
Sliding door roller replacement (parts + labor) $185 - $325
Hinge re-shim and door realignment $220 - $380
Interlock cleaning and crank adjustment $150 - $250
Laminated impact glass replacement (per pane, by size) $550 - $1,800+
Weep hole clearing and track service $120 - $200
Full replacement CWS impact door or window (installed) $2,800 - $9,000+ depending on size and series

What moves the price in Miami Beach specifically: access. If a CWS unit sits on the fifth floor of a Collins Avenue building with a service elevator that shuts down at 4:00, that’s a variable. If the opening is out of square by a half-inch, that’s another. We’ll tell you exactly which of those apply before you sign anything. Call (386) 406-9359 for a free estimate.

Why Miami Beach Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for CWS Work

Dale Kessler grew up in Normandy Isles, and he’s been setting and weatherproofing windows across Miami Beach for more than twenty years. He knows what salt air does to CWS frames after two hurricane seasons, because he’s watched it happen on buildings up and down this strip. When we work on your CWS product, we treat it the way we’d treat our own mother’s place, background-checked techs, measured twice, quoted on paper, registered warranties before the truck leaves.

Every CWS repair carries our Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right. We’re also authorized installers for, and PGT, so if we find a CWS unit that’s beyond saving, we can put a real comparison in front of you instead of just replacing it with the first thing that fits. A square deal, in writing, the first time.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★

"Sliding door had been dragging for years. They quoted a repair first, said the track was shot, then priced the replacement both ways on paper. No pressure either direction. Door glides with one finger now."

CCarol M.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."

RRonald P.
★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★

"Quote was the price, which after three other bids that grew legs was worth something. Double-hungs went in clean, they hauled the old ones, and the registration paperwork for the warranty came in the mail like they said."
