Every brand has a personality. PGT’s is straightforward: the glass and the aluminum are built well. The weak points are almost always at the transitions, the places where roof meets frame and frame meets curb. Here is what we see most often in Miami Beach homes.

If your Miami Beach roof deck has a PGT sliding door leading out to it, and the door panel now sags or catches mid-track, the drift pins and roller assemblies are usually done. This is a high-use, high-salt environment, and the original rollers are not immune. We replace the gaskets with a marine-grade material that handles salt exposure better than the factory-spec rubber and re-test the drainage path before we remove a single tool from the roof.
- PGT WinGuard roof-glazing units with seal failure caused by improper slope. We have replaced more than a few PGT WinGuard roof-glazing panels in Miami Beach where the original installer set the frame on a roof with less slope than the product needs to shed water. The interior seal eventually fails, fog appears between the panes, and the homeowner is told the unit is dead. Sometimes it is. But often the issue is the slope, and the fix is re-setting the frame with a corrected pitch, not buying a new panel. You cannot get that answer from a website.
